DePaul University Library and the Moraine Valley Community College Library are pleased to announce that they will be partnering to co-host the 2014 Illinois Information Literacy Summit in April at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois.
This new partnership between DePaul and Moraine Valley represents the next step in the growth of the Summit. The organizers envision the Summit as an opportunity for librarians, teachers and other practitioners across the educational spectrum to come together to share ideas and strengthen information literacy throughout the Midwest.
This year’s Summit, scheduled for Friday, April 25, 2014, will look at the evolving nature of information literacy in light of the forthcoming revision to ACRL’s Information Literacy Standards.
Trudi Jacobson (University at Albany, SUNY; Chair of ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education Task Force) and Tom Mackey (SUNY Empire State College) will deliver this year’s keynote, “Changing Models, Changing Emphases: The Evolution of Information Literacy.” Their presentation will explore metaliteracy, threshold concepts, empowerment, metacognition, and information literacy in the disciplines.
The planning committee will announce details on this year’s summit speakers along with a call for proposals in early November.
